Miyoko's Creamery European Style Salted Plant Milk Butter has been voluntarily recalled by distributor Prosperity Organic Foods over potential contamination with yeast, mold, and E. coli. The recall affects 1,304 cases sold in six-pack containers with eight-ounce packaging.
The affected butter carries UPC code 857554005773, lot number 07871, and a best-by date of November 5, 2026. It was distributed across 10 states: Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.
Initial reports surfaced in September when retailers including Sprouts, Wegmans, and Market Basket posted consumer notices. Market Basket testing found the product did not meet quality standards and may contain E. coli. The FDA recall notice also identifies yeast and mold contamination.
Miyoko's Creamery stated the company "voluntarily pulled a very small number of products off the shelves out of an abundance of caution." No illnesses have been reported, though consuming the affected product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.
Consumers with the affected butter should not consume it. They should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase. Select retailers are offering refunds.
